The Carnival in Rio de
Janeiro is a world famous festival held before Lent every year and considered
the biggest carnival in the world with two million people per day on the
streets. The first festivals of Rio date back to 1823.
Preparations for the Rio
Carnival go on for months before the actual event itself. If you’re lucky
enough to be in Rio during Carnival, you can expect spectacular parades put on
by the city’s ‘samba schools’, along with street parties, live Brazilian music
and plenty more.
